Plugwise takes its responsibilities very seriously regarding the correct and legitimate way of handling the sensitive information of its customers.
We guarantee the privacy of all Plugwise users.
Plugwise is responsible for correctly processing all personal data collected through the website www.plugwise.com and www.myplugwise.com, on concluding a purchase agreement with Plugwise and when using the Plugwise system.
Personal and consumption data
Through our website or otherwise, Plugwise receives user’s personal information , such as at registration with Plugwise, at registration for obtaining the newsletter, at requests for a quotation, at placing orders, when installing the Plugwise software or in using the Plugwise system.
When a Plugwise system is purchased directly through the Plugwise webshop, Plugwise acquires the IP address and information that have been provided to Plugwise, including name, address, email address and sometimes account information. These details are never linked to the consumption data that have may have been generated by using the Plugwise products
All personal data are processed by Plugwise only if the user has given explicit consent.
When a customer installs the Plugwise system and included software, Plugwise receives his email-address, the country where the user resides or its business is located, the 5 digits of the zip code (Germany)/UK full post code, the license code connected to the Plugwise-software as well as the (technical) anonymous data derived from the energy consumption of the appliances that have been connected with the Plugwise system including information on the electrical equipment the customer used, when these devices are used and the duration of use. These data are delivered to Plugwise as aggregated data and are never real time data.
Plugwise removes the link between the license code and e-mail immediately after activating the software.
The e-mail address is used only for sending information about software updates.
These technical consumption data are used by Plugwise to improve and extend the functionality of its products with the ultimate goal of a better environment and a sustainable world.
In this context Plugwise is co-operating intensively and participating (selflessly) in various academic studies that focus on analyzing energy consumption data. Research is performed in cooperation with the Technical University (TU) in Delft and Stanford University.
Through analysis of the carefully anonymized measurement-data it is possible to create public scientific publications that can be used for more a meaningful use of fossil and renewable energy.
License terms
Plugwise has drawn up License terms containing conditions governing the use of the Software (the software) belonging to the Plugwise products.
These Terms exist in 2 versions: one for consumer and SME usage and one meant for large corporate accounts.
Both versions of the License Terms can be downloaded from the website www.plugwise.com.
Consumer and SME users
Article 6 of these conditions explicitly states that Plugwise receives from each user technical (consumption) data of all those devices that are connected with Plugwise products These data are always stored anonymously and can therefore never be used to trace any person in a household and / or office unless the user has expressly consented to linking the consumption data with the personal Information.
Before a Plugwise product can be purchased via the Plugwise website, the buyer is requested to explicitly agree with the License Terms by placing a tick in the appropriate box.
Non-acceptance of the License Terms implies that the purchasing-process is discontinued.
When the Plugwise software (Source) is taken into use and with each new update, the user is requested to also explicitly agree with the License Terms. In case of non-acceptance of these conditions, the download process of the software will be interrupted.
If a user in any way prevents the process of sending the technical consumption-data to Plugwise, the user forfeits the right to receive any free updates of the software.
The anonymous consumption data are collected at a location that is physically separate from the location where the personal information is stored. Mutual linking is excluded.
We guarantee that all information submitted by users is protected using the latest techniques.
Furthermore we refer to our Privacy and Cookie Policy that can be downloaded from the Plugwise website.
